Childbirth Services Centered Around Your Family

At UMass Memorial, we use the TeamBirth approach to labor and delivery. This program enhances communication between families and providers, helping you have a safe and positive birthing experience. During labor, you can expect services centered around you, your partner or support person and your baby. Compassionate nurses, easily accessible obstetricians and other specialists work together, so you can focus on welcoming your little one.

Childbirth and Family Education

It’s natural to be nervous about childbirth. We give you the information you need about what to expect, so you feel confident about what lies ahead. You may also receive helpful information about labor, delivery and postpartum through our family education classes.

Specialized Pregnancy Care

Living with certain conditions during pregnancy may require specialized care. Heart disease during pregnancy can strain your heart, but our experts can help. If you had diabetes before you got pregnant or it developed during pregnancy (gestational diabetes), we help you manage it.

The Green Clinic also offers care for pregnant persons with substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder. We support healthy pregnancies, long-term recovery and better mental health.

Cesarean Birth Recovery at Home

Certain patients who had a cesarean birth can leave our facilities when they are ready and receive hospital-level postpartum care at home. UMass Memorial was the first in the nation to offer this service. If eligible, you receive attentive care from our team while recovering where you are most comfortable — near family and loved ones.
