The blood that remains in the umbilical cord and placenta after a baby's birth is rich in stem cells that are found in bone marrow. It used to be thrown away as waste, but by donating it you can help advance medical research.

You have the ability to save a life—or even several lives—by being an organ and tissue donor. And you can do this in two ways:
A kidney (renal) transplant is surgery in which a healthy kidney from a donor is placed into your body and takes over the job of filtering your blood. The donor is a person who has just died or a living person, most often a family member.
